I support and guide mourners through the funeral process alongside the funeral director. I am happy to be there for the mourners and to offer a funeral reflecting the deceased and the mourner’s beliefs and spirituality.

This is a significant time for them and I look to reflect this in their ceremony. The ceremony will be personal to the deceased and reflect their wishes, beliefs and life.

I live in Bridgnorth but I travel to places in Shropshire and Staffordshire within an hour.

Planning

Many of us have taken out a funeral plan but very few have taken the next step of helping those who we will leave behind understand what we want our funeral to be like. From a basic free conversation to help you record your simple wishes about funeral style and content, to a completely scripted celebration with selected poetry and music, I can help you take the pressure off your loved ones when the time comes.

Price £120 for a fully scripted service. If I eventually deliver your funeral celebration this fee will then be deducted.

Burial or Cremation

I can be contacted either directly or through the funeral directors of your choice. From the moment you make contact I will focus my attention on delivering a celebration you will be proud of. If possible I will visit you in person, and speak to extended family and friends to draw on their experiences of the persons whose funeral I am planning. I will advise on length of funeral, content, individual contributions, and draft a carefully timed script for your consideration and approval. On the day of the funeral I will deliver the funeral service and leave you with a presentation copy of the script.

Memorial Celebration

A memorial service serves as a beautiful, heartfelt tribute that brings family and friends together in a warm, supportive setting. The focus is on creating a personalised experience, celebrating the individual’s unique qualities, life achievements, and the bonds they shared with others. This approach emphasises connection and shared memories, enabling guests to both grieve and find joy in the celebration of the person’s legacy. It’s a space for collective reflection and support, where comfort is drawn from stories and experiences.

Price £250 or £120 if I have previously delivered the funeral.

Scattering or Interment of Ashes

All too often this stage can become a difficult and stressful experience. I will assist you with planning the logistics and legalities of any planned interment, and help to provide a structure to the event. I will provide you with a scripted set of words that can be used on the day. Finally, I will be on hand to assist throughout.

Price £175 or £100 if I have previously delivered the funeral.

Doing it Yourself

There are no rules that prevent you delivering a funeral celebration yourself. For some people the thought of having a total stranger involved in the process of you saying your final goodbyes feels completely wrong. l offer a telephone and email service to assist you with explaining the various options and formats you may want to follow, helping with your choices of music and poetry and proof reading your final script to make sure it is clear and doesn’t over run the time allowed.

Price £50. If you subsequently ask me to take the celebration for you, this fee will be deducted.

I worked for the NHS for most of my life but have now found my path forward to becoming a funeral celebrant. This enables me to still show compassion and understanding for people at a difficult time.

Many still consider planning their funeral as ‘tempting fate’. Often people struggle to write their own will. However, planning a funeral is not only an honour but a loving thing to do for loved ones. This is a time of great grief and I endeavour to make that process easier.

Alongside this role, I also help with the Brownies and walk my dog, Seren.

How it works

I understand that this is an incredibly difficult time, and my role is to provide support, guidance, and comfort. You can share your thoughts and feelings, and rest assured that the ceremony will be a heartfelt and fitting tribute to your loved one.

Visit

I can schedule a time that is convenient to visit or if you prefer, to do it by telephone. This will be to gather information and have an understanding of the deceased's life, interests, and values.

Details

We'll discuss the type of service (traditional, religious, or non-religious service), the location and venue options for the ceremony and arrange dates and times.

Personalisation

We'll cover eulogies and tributes (who will speak and any stories or themes to highlight), readings and music, and any visual displays like video tributes or displaying photographs.
